Complex pelvic fractures repaired sooner thanks to 3D

A patient with a complex pelvic fracture was operated on at UMCG for the first time using titanium plates and drilling jigs custom-made for the patient. The plates and jigs were designed using 3D models of the fractured pelvis.

Yet developing titanium plates and drilling jigs is not the most innovative aspect of the operation. It is the time frame. Our specialised manufacturing facility makes it possible to produce all the required materials in an extremely short time. A huge leap forward in patient health.
